Term 6/2015 Newsletter

Friday 5th June 2015

Welcome to term 6.  This term we have lots of activities and experiences planned for the children – please also take a look at the calendar for dates of events and activities planned.

Learning about animals  This term we will be looking at caterpillars and how they grow into butterflies. We have purchased a ‘caterpillar home’ and will be watching as they turn into butterflies and then releasing them once they are fully grown. We are also having a visit from a vet during this term to talk to the children about pets and how we should care for them.

Parents Meetings  We will be having parents meetings for all children. For the children that are leaving for school, parents meetings will be from the week commencing 15th June.  For the children that are returning in September, parents meetings will be from week commencing 13th July.  We will be in contact with each of you shortly to arrange meeting dates and times.

Pre-School Leavers Sports Day and Celebration  As a pre-school we like to encourage the parents to be involved to build a real sense of community within the pre-school.  Therefore this year we are to have a pre-school leaver’s sports day and celebration on Friday 17th July from 2.00 to 3.00pm. During this time the children will be taking part in sports activities such as the egg and spoon race, running race, obstacle race and others, on the Courtney Primary School field. This is a great time for you to cheer on your children whilst they have fun.

Following the races we will be awarding each of the children a medal, a present and also a pre-school certificate for them to remember their time with us. During this time it will be great for the staff and parents/families to spend time together and to say a farewell before the children move onto ‘big school’.

As the pre-school will be closed from 12.00 on Friday 17th July for the afternoon, all parents will have received a letter regarding re-allocation of the Friday 17th July afternoon session should your child attend on Friday afternoons.

Teddy Bear’s Picnic Week 15th June  As it will be national picnic week this week we thought it would be nice to get involved at the pre-school. Your child will be bringing home an invitation for their teddy bear (or other favourite cuddly toy) to bring into pre-school the week commencing 15th June.  During this week we will be baking cakes, making sandwiches and biscuits with the children and then having a picnic. We will be providing lots of teddy bear activities, songs and stories for the children to become involved in and have lots of fun.

Road Safety Week  The week commencing 29th June 2015 we will be having a road safety week. We are using resources from the local library to enhance the children’s learning experience regarding road safety. We are also arranging a visit from the road crossing safety team this week.

We look forward to a great term 6.  Should you have any queries then please speak to a member of staff or phone the pre-school office, thank you.
