As a pre-school we know the importance of keeping up to date with the latest early years practice, childcare research and legislation. Therefore each member of staff regularly attends training through the local authority and through training provided by the Pre-School Learning Alliance along with studying for Childcare and Early Years Qualifications. This is to ensure the staff are fully up to date with safeguarding policies, procedures and the latest legislation and supporting children in their learning and education.
In August staff attended in-house training at the pre-school to improve our skills, knowledge and to discuss ‘In the moment planning’ for which each parent will be receiving information shortly.
This was a fun, interactive team building day where the staff along with the Chairperson of the pre-school committee discussed the importance of team work, supporting children in their transition to pre-school, Our Pre-School Vision, the importance of outside experiences, teachable moments and using natural resources to ignite imagination and creativity in children.
The staff explored what it is like for a child at our pre-school by reflecting and evaluating different scenarios within play situations. It couldn’t be a training day without getting messy on at least one occasion as we experimented with making play dough mixed with paint and the benefits of messy play for the children from which they can gain many experiences, such as exploring language, mathematics, creativity and the physical gain from squashing, squeezing and pulling play dough.
A major focus of our training day was Safeguarding. All staff have up to date Safeguarding and Child Protection training, FGM and Prevent Duty training to ensure the team are fully aware of signs and behaviours to support your child fully and provide the best care and to deal in the appropriate and necessary way.
Please take a look at the photos of the staff team hard at work on the training day. And yes there were cakes and biscuits involved and many cups of tea to help us through the day 🙂
