Reminder of our Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) at the pre-school on Wednesday 28th February 2018 at 7.00pm. We have a General Committee Member vacancy for our pre-school Committee and would like to invite all to join us. Therefore please come along to the pre-school and show your support to the pre-school. If we do not have a full committee then the pre-school will no longer be able to run. Therefore we need to fill the one place of General Committee Member. If you are interested please let myself (Claire, manager) know or speak to the Chair of the Pre-School Committee, Lynne Mahony. Also, during this meeting the committee will be reassuring you about the staff changes that have happened over the past few months. It is always a little unsettling when staff move on and new staff join us. However we are continuing to ensure the children remain well cared for and have a good early year’s education.
New Playhouse and Hobbit House – no longer a hobbit house but an outdoor covered area We decided against the hobbit house due to the new playhouse being so amazing and it can actually be used as a hobbit house. Therefore in place of the hobbit house an outdoor covered area (very much like a gazebo) has been built as a permanent feature of the outdoor area. The children have been enjoying both the playhouse and the gazebo. The children have really used their imagination and the playhouse has become a pirate ship, a police car and even ASDA and also a relaxing place for the children to sit with friends. The gazebo has been an ice castle on many occasions with the children pretending to be Anna, Elsa and Olaf. The children have also used the gazebo as a school and enjoyed pretending to be the pre-school teachers, which was very entertaining as they took on the names of the pre-school practitioners.
Weather appropriate clothing and outdoor clothing please We are due for another cold spell throughout next week. So we please ask that children come equipped for the outdoors. The children do go outside in almost all weathers (we assess the weather conditions every day) to ensure they have a good amount of physical activity, fresh air and lots of outdoor experiences. Therefore we kindly ask that all children have appropriate outdoor clothing such as hats, scarves, gloves and cold weather coat and welly boots. The children always have the option to play inside or outside, which we call free flow play, where the children can choose to go between the indoor and outdoor areas, at no time are the children made to stay outside and we ensure to check they do not get to cold and if they do then we ask them to go back inside to warm up.
World Book Day It is World Book Day next week on Thursday 1st March 2018. Therefore we invite all children to dress up as their favourite book character on that day and bring in their favourite book to share with us from home. We also have the pre-school library and the children will be invited to take a book home to share with you and return to us once they have enjoyed sharing it with you. We would also like to make a display of the children, and yourselves, reading books in your home, at the park or anywhere else you or your child may read a book. Therefore we ask that you take a photo of your child or yourself reading a book, it could even be the bedtime story that you share together. We look forward to seeing the photos and talking about the places that we can read books. We will be making a Book Reading display with the children.
Any donations gratefully received……. We are continually grateful for any donations that you are able to make to the pre-school. It really helps us to keep our costs down and therefore provide more experiences and resources for the children to enjoy and learn. If you are able to donate any of the following, we would really appreciate your help; flour, cornflour, antibac spray, dishcloths, kitchen roll, large empty cardboard boxes, paper, card for arts and crafts. Thank you very much for anything that you are able to donate.
Dates for your diary and future experiences
Should you require any further information please speak to Claire (manager) or any other team member, thank you.
